'You made [our daughter] believe that she was capable of achieving what she needs to achieve and that in itself is amazing... She scored exactly what she needed so she’s off to university to do Veterinary Medicine! We are over the moon and can’t thank you enough for everything.'

‘I was absolutely thrilled to receive an offer to study English at the University of Cambridge today. I can genuinely say that, if it hadn’t been for Edward’s advice and guidance, I would not be in receipt of this much cherished offer.

This past year, he has been a superb, truly supportive mentor, providing me with a comprehensive reading journey through which we enjoyed many intriguing and challenging discussions. Our in-depth conversations on various texts formed the basis of my personal statement, where I was able to confidently evidence my literary curiosity, obviously key to a competitive Oxbridge application. He also helped me learn how to successfully (and much more succinctly!) express my ideas and thoughts, using relevant source material to further my arguments.

Having devoured every single one of his Oxbridge application articles, I can honestly say that many of Edward’s top-tips were enormously helpful and relevant during the interviewing process, having previously navigated through a wealth of misleading, inaccurate and out-of-date Oxbridge Application “advice” online. Without wanting to sound too cliché, I really do feel that Edward shared this journey with me and, knowing that I could, and did, turn to him for advice through each step of the process from developing a comprehensive reading programme, to creating an authentic, impactful personal statement, ELAT preparation, and not least, the interview preparation. This formed the backbone of my entire application. And for that, words cannot express how truly grateful I am to have found Edward.'

"Edward is currently helping my daughter with her Oxbridge application for English.  As a state school applicant, she had received limited support (and conflicting advice) with regard to the Personal Statement and the ELAT exam in particular.  I am therefore extremely thankful to have discovered Edward and feel a genuine sense of relief that she is now being given comprehensive, correct advice with regard to her application.  I know my daughter genuinely looks forward to the sessions as, after each one, she excitedly shares ideas discussed and what plans she has next etc. As a parent, I find Edward extremely approachable and he is always quick to respond to any queries.  He always goes that extra step to ensure that maximum benefit is received from each and every session.  I certainly hope to use his services again in two years’ time when our son also applies to Oxbridge (But let’s get through this one first !)"

"Edward has been of great help to me during the process of my Oxbridge application, working on planning and structuring my personal statement with me, and with ELAT and interview practice. His enthusiasm for the subject, and his ability to discuss a great number of texts with me, is outstanding and has really bolstered my ability to link ideas between works when discussing and writing – a skill that will be incredibly helpful in all aspects of my application. Every session is challenging, and useful practice for a focused, academic interview such as those of Oxbridge. Edward is excellent at providing an interesting and comprehensive focus for a personal statement, and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading all his book recommendations and discussing these texts in our lessons!"

"My son was all smiles after the session... His quote was “he’s a really smart guy who has explained Macbeth to me!”  Genuinely he was delighted with the progress and understanding achieved in one hour!"

B, mother of an IGCSE student, 2022

"... It has been a great privilege to have been your student ... Thank you for being a brilliant English teacher and for teaching us literature with all the subtlety, context and passion that has made the subject thoroughly enjoyable and inspiring. Your lessons have undoubtedly been a highlight of my school life..."

Lower Sixth student, 2019

"... a highly dynamic tutor. His knowledge of the material is vast and his enthusiasm for the subject is contagious. No lesson is the same and each is equally inspiring. With a friendly and collaborative style, he always allows you the intellectual freedom to explore your own ideas. Meanwhile, he is excellent at helping you to hone your analytical skills and to focus your writing towards exam questions. It was an absolute pleasure to be taught by him; he thoroughly rekindled a love of English literature!"

Freddie who has now graduated with a double-first in History from the University of Cambridge
